Nucleo Pro gives GO Studios the freedom to keep working - without any slowdowns

GO Studios is a post house based out of Los Angeles, California. The firm specializes in editing, motion graphics, sound design, and DVD creation. Recently, GO Studios used their expertise on Guy Hornbuckle®s documentary, ®Solidbodies: The 50 Year Guitar War,® a story of the electric guitar boom and the heated competition between lead manufacturers Fender and Gibson.

Scott O®Connor was born in Upstate NY and worked for Motown founder Berry Gordy®s private label in Los Angeles as the lead graphic designer. He now is the lead designer for GO Studios.

No Slowing Down with Nucleo Pro on Board

Scott had the task of figuring out ways to liven up archival photographs, record album covers, and guitar advertisements for the fast-moving documentary. A particular challenge was bringing to life blueprints and patent drawings of the first electric guitars, also known as ®solidbodies.® To recreate the creative burst that led to the invention of these guitars, Scott converted original 1950®s patent drawings into vector images and animated the sequences in After Effects to simulate the process of the blueprints being drawn.

Nucleo Pro is a plug-in for After Effects. With workflow enhancements like Spec Preview, Spec Render, Commit to Disk, and Background Render, Nucleo Pro allows you to harness the full power of your multi-processor or multi-core computer.

®While After Effects projects rendered in the background, I had the freedom to keep working ® without any slowdowns,® said Scott O®Connor.

More Time to Take Chances

Before Nucleo Pro, GO Studios work would have stopped with one blueprint animation. Nucleo Pro allowed Scott to render out one animated drawing in the background while working on additional drawings, leading to a final split-screen shot showing the animations of multiple guitars at the same time. This was a far more effective shot that better conveys the excitement of the story.

®Nucleo Pro really helped us to maximize our time in order to create a montage of graphics consisting of 15 nested compositions. This is our first big project that has been based around Nucleo Pro. The software allowed us to take creative chances, which was crucial with such a short deadline,® continued Scott.
